At Mitansh Foundation, every donation we receive is treated with great care and is directed promptly to our charitable programs. This policy explains when and how refunds may be processed.
In short: Donations are generally non-refundable, as they are immediately committed to our charitable activities. However, we will refund duplicate or genuinely erroneous transactions on request — see below for the full process.
1. General Donation Policy
All donations made to Mitansh Foundation are voluntary contributions to our charitable mission. Once received, funds are committed to:
- Programs you may have designated (e.g. Tamanna, Kavyansh Pustakalay, Amrit Dhara, Surbhi Gaushala)
- General trust activities including education, health, women empowerment, rural development, and social welfare
- Operational costs necessary to deliver these programs
As such, donations are generally non-refundable once received.
2. When We Will Process a Refund
We will consider refunds in the following cases:
- Duplicate transaction: if you accidentally donated twice (or more) due to a technical glitch or repeated form submission
- Incorrect amount: if you intended to donate ₹500 but a technical error charged you ₹5,000 (or any clearly incorrect amount)
- Failed transaction with double debit: if your bank shows a debit but you never received our confirmation/receipt, and we have not recorded the donation
- Unauthorised transaction: if the donation was made through your account without your authorisation (please report this to us and your bank immediately)
3. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please email us within 7 days of the transaction at mitanshfoundation@gmail.com with the following details:
- Your full name and registered email
- Date and amount of the donation
- Transaction ID / UTR / Razorpay Payment ID
- Reason for refund request
- A screenshot or bank statement showing the transaction (if available)
Alternatively, call us at +91 96757 65559.
4. Refund Processing Timeline
Once we receive your refund request:
- Within 2 working days: we will acknowledge your request and start verification
- Within 5 working days: we will verify the transaction against our records and the payment gateway (Razorpay / bank)
- Within 7-10 working days: if the refund is approved, it will be processed back to the original payment method (UPI / card / netbanking) used for the donation
- Bank crediting: the amount may take an additional 5-7 business days to reflect in your account, depending on your bank
5. 80G Receipt Implications
If you have already received an 80G tax receipt for the donation and a refund is subsequently processed:
- The 80G receipt becomes void and cannot be used for tax exemption
- You must not claim the refunded amount as a deduction under Section 80G
- We will issue a written confirmation of the refund and cancellation of the receipt
- If you have already filed your tax return claiming the donation, please consult your tax advisor on revising the return
6. Razorpay-Processed Donations
For donations made via Razorpay (cards, UPI, netbanking, wallets):
- Refunds are processed through Razorpay back to the original payment method
- Razorpay's own refund timelines apply (typically 5-7 working days)
- You will receive an email confirmation from Razorpay once the refund is initiated
7. Bank Transfer / UPI Direct Donations
For donations made directly via bank transfer (NEFT / RTGS / IMPS) or UPI (outside Razorpay):
- Refunds will be made via bank transfer to the same account from which the donation was received
- Please provide your bank account details (Name, A/C No, IFSC) at the time of refund request
- Processing time: 7-10 working days after approval
8. Program Registration Fees
For paid programs in our Student Corner (e.g. Kumaoni Language & Culture Program):
- Before batch start: full refund minus a 10% administrative charge if you cancel 7 or more days before the batch start date
- Within 7 days of batch start: 50% refund
- After batch starts: no refunds; however, you may transfer your seat to another person with our approval
9. Non-Refundable Items
The following are strictly non-refundable:
- Voluntary donations that have already been disbursed for charitable activities (e.g. funds spent on a blood donation camp or library books)
- Donations made in someone else's name as a gift
- Refund requests received more than 30 days after the transaction
- Donations made to specific time-bound campaigns that have already closed
10. Disputes & Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback through your bank or card network without first contacting us, please understand that this may delay refund processing and could affect future donation eligibility. We strongly encourage you to reach out to us first — we are committed to resolving genuine concerns promptly.
11. Right to Modify
We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. The policy in effect at the time of your donation will apply to that transaction.
